When visiting the amazing 5 on the Farm Festival over the August Bank Holiday weekend, we booked ourselves into the brand-new Spring Wood pop-up campsite.

The campsite
Situated in Yorkshire, just 5 minutes’ drive (or 15 minutes’ walk) from Cannon Hall Farm, the Spring Wood campsite is based on a working farm, with beautiful views across the countryside, just outside of Cawthorne, Barnsley.
The campsite was split into two; part for staff of the 5 on the Farm festival, and part for visitors to the area. Pitch numbers were very limited, which meant it was not only peaceful, but all tents could be well spread out.

We had a lovely pitch alongside the hedge, which was perfect being on my own with Lily – we felt extremely safe and well looked after the whole weekend, while enjoying the beautiful views from the tent.
Toilets and Showers
The farm team had worked hard to install temporary toilet and shower facilities across the site. These were mainly actual toilet blocks with working sinks, rather than just portaloos, which made such a difference to our stay.

They were also great at keeping them clean – I’ve never seen a toilet block cleaned so many times in one weekend, so thank you!
Food and drink
One thing that added to the gem of this site was the availability of fresh food and drink – they had hired in local food stalls on two of the nights, plus the team were making breakfast each morning.

You could also pick up local eggs and bread, a breakfast kit for yourself, plus a gorgeous smores kits for the fire pits – they really had thought of everything!
If you’d forgotten toiletries or any other essentials (including your charger!) they were there to help, and they even provided a huge bottle of water when you arrived too.

Entertainment
As if the above wasn’t enough, that leads us nicely onto the fire pits – you could pay just £6 for a fire pit kit to use one of their three fire pits in their own separate area on the campsite.
Lily loved using her smores kit to toast her marshmallows, while we relaxed on the hay bales around the area – it really was something so special and so well thought out.

On top of that, the team also set up an evening outdoor cinema, where you could relax on the hay bales with your warming fire pit and enjoy the movie.
Lily was fast asleep instantly after a fun full day at 5 on the Farm, but even being one of the nearest tents to the outdoor cinema, we couldn’t hear it from our tent, helping it remain so peaceful for us.

Conclusion
We had a brilliant time at Spring Wood Camping and we really do recommend staying there if they do the pop-up campsite again, especially if you’re visiting Cannon Hall Farm and looking for a campsite near to the 5 on the Farm festival, or just looking to explore the beautiful local area, with walking routes and more.

It was very family-friendly, well spaced out and so peaceful, plus the team were so lovely, checking we were all OK. It was a beautiful place for a spot of wild camping and get back to nature, while still having clean facilities to enjoy on site.

We felt safe and very much enjoyed our stay, even coming home with a whole tray of fresh farm eggs and bread rolls to keep us filled at home.
Thank you so much to the team at Spring Wood Camping – we hope to see you again soon!
