If you’re looking for a children’s birthday party in Northamptonshire or near to Leicestershire, we can’t recommend West Lodge Farm Park enough for kids of all ages.

Those of you who regularly follow our blog will know how much we love West Lodge Farm Park, from their fantastic seasonal events and day out fun, through to their incredible family camping weekends.
Surprise birthday party
Lily proudly announces that West Lodge Farm Park is her favourite place, so we arranged for a little surprise birthday party for her when restrictions allowed (early July 2021).

Our party ran slightly differently to normal due to the Covid restrictions, however we still had the same amazing support from the brilliant West Lodge Farm Park team and were able to take part in all the activities on the farm while we were there.
In fact, we arrived at 10am and didn’t leave until 5pm – it was just a perfect day with so much to do on the farm.

The party format & arrival
There are three main timeslots for the party, with a morning, lunchtime and afternoon slot. The timeslots are for your time in the playbarn and food, however you and your guests can arrive at any time throughout the day.

We hadn’t told Lily about the party, partly because we weren’t sure if restrictions would change again and partly because we only had a small number, so we wanted to keep it quiet – however the team had been amazing at keeping us updated in the run up to the party, and we were so excited it could still go ahead.
As a huge fan of West Lodge, Lily amazingly recognized the road about a mile away, so she was buzzing in the car, and then nearly burst when she saw her name on the Birthday Board outside the entrance – it was totally her life goals, haha!

When we arrived, we had already given the team the names of Lily’s six friends, each who were allowed an adult with them too. Again, Lily was buzzing when she saw all of her closest friends were going to be there.
We were given a friendly welcome, a quick run-through reminder of timings, as well as a bag filled with bags of goat food for each child.

We had a lunchtime timeslot, which began with a session in the indoor play barn. We had arrived at 10am, so had spent the morning enjoying the farm trails and outdoor play area, however we had a place to gather with her party guests (we chose 6 friends) in the indoor playbarn.
The playbarn
We had the party room in the playbarn to allow the kids to run around and then know where we were.

The indoor playbarn is a fantastic wooden play area for kids of all ages to explore, and a great place to escape from the hot sun or the rain too.
After our session was over, we were met by our party host, who allowed the playbarn to clear so we could get a group photo, then led us to the sinks so the little ones could wash their hands in time for food.

The party food
In ‘normal’ circumstances, the party food is usually served in the playbarn, however we were led to a beautiful marquee area outside which allowed us to host the group under the latest restrictions.

The table was all set out with juice for the kids and we had pre-ordered food from the party menu, which was pizza and chips, freshly made by the restaurant team.
We had also pre-ordered tea and a platter of sandwiches for adults, which soon was the start of the conga line of giggling kids snaking around the table to grab some crisps from the adult platter too 🙂

The team served ice cream and brought out the cake. Lily had cupcakes made by the lovely Caliko & Cake, which were brought out by the team with her candle for the Happy Birthday song – Lily was in her element!
The added extras
In addition to your party and the normal fabulous farm activities, you can add extra activities on the farm (weather depending) including tractor rides, pony rides and the brand new adventure golf.

We pre-booked the pony rides and were so happy that they were able to go ahead. Each of the children had a ride on one of the two ponies around the field, and despite the forecast rain, the glorious sunshine came out for them.

The farm
Once we’d finished the pony rides, we fed the goats with the goat food we were given and then headed for the outdoor play area, where the kids could happily run around and join in the barrel rides too.
You’re also able to enjoy the animal petting, walking trails and the maze too (we didn’t think we’d get them to stop lapping the maze, they loved it so much!).

We stayed until nearly 5pm and the only thing we would do differently is book it on a camping weekend next year so we don’t even need to leave afterwards 🙂
Thank you to everyone at West Lodge Farm Park for making Lily’s birthday party so special – you really were fantastic every step of the way.
She was so happy and all the children had a fantastic time, plus with everything organised for us, all we needed to do was bring the cake, making it a fun and stress-free day for everyone!
