Shop eco-friendly small businesses this Christmas

When working on my Christmas gift guide for kids who love the outdoors, I realised I wanted to highlight not only more small businesses but also those who are more eco-friendly too.

So, in a bid to share some love for some small businesses who are doing their bit to be green, here are a few of my favourites, from eco-friendly wrapping to long-lasting wooden toys.

Button & Squirt

Anyone who follows me here or on social media will know we are massive fans of the amazing Button & Squirt. Ria is the absolute queen of eco friendly, with the most amazing products that are not only fun, but are educational and beautiful too.

Whether you’re looking for beautiful wooden necklaces, stationery, games or activities, there are a whole range of gifts for children and adults alike.

Everything is such fantastic quality, hand-drawn by Ria herself, and 5% of every sale even goes to charity.

What’s more, she also has some incredible gift bags, Christmas labels and decorations this year too, making it a perfect place to shop for everything this year.

Pom Pom

Another favourite of ours in our gift guide is Pom Pom, the perfect place for plastic free toys and gifts for children.

They have hundreds of wooden and plastic free toy choices which will make beautiful gifts for babies and children, helping them learn and giving them something to treasure for years.

They are also the home of the wooden climbing triangle, keeping toddlers active at home, as well as a huge range of indoor and outdoor toys, with so many inspirational ideas that we would have never thought of looking for.

The Pom Pom website says it all: “From product to packaging, we are plastic free and require our suppliers to do the same. We hand pick items created by brands that love design and creativity like we do. Our desire to be free from plastic works hand in hand with our aesthetic.”

Nurture Collective

Another fantastic place for eco-friendly options, including toys, clothing and more, is the Nurture Collective, a beautiful collection of gifts and products for children of all ages, and adults too.

We particularly love the Nurture Collective’s eco Christmas gift guide, sorted by age for babies through to mamas too.

They have a Zero Waste shop, eco-friendly cleaning options (always great to stock up on before the festive season too!), a toy shop, bedding, clothes and more.

If you’re looking for eco-friendly, natural gifts for young children this Christmas, check out the Wishbone Design gifts over at Nurture Collective, made out of sustainable wood too.

Vera Bee

I’d wrapped all my presents in brown paper with brown paper tape, but was on the search for something to make the parcels look a bit prettier, while still keeping everything recyclable.

On the search for a small business that was affordable and offered eco friendly wrapping, I came across the beautiful Vera Bee, an eco-friendly, vegan, plastic-free shop.

I ordered some beautiful paper bows and paper string, and then lost myself in the beautiful website, filled with stunning eco-friendly gift ideas, household items, cleaning products, wax wraps and more.

Delivery was fast and arrived beautifully packaged in a recyclable box too.

Yes, definitely. Lily wanted Playmobil for her birthday last year and I got loads from Facebook Marketplace for so much less than new too. It really is a great place 🙂
