I’ve a ‘proper blog’ to share with you sometime this week (when I get round to actually typing it!) but first I thought I’d share two of my Mum Fails this week. I’ve failed on many counts over the past year and probably will fail many times again, but here are two of this week’s most special…
#1 The Stairgates
Yes, we should have put them up many months ago. But we gave it a shot and it took an hour to get to point 2 of 21 in the instructions of gate 1 of 3 before we gave up. With a baby who wants to get everywhere, we had to improvise fast and so now we’ve discovered a temporary fix… jarring the stairgate box in the doorway until my dad can come up and help…
At least you can’t see the inflatable bath temporarily blocking the gap at the top of the stairs…
#2 The Sensory Board
All the magazines make it look so easy. Just find a variety of objects with different shapes and textures, and glue them to a board (or a cereal box, in my case). Well, how come their’s didn’t look like the recycling bin had puked up over the floor?!
To be fair to her she did start off pretty well…
She seemed to be quite engrossed in it for about 5 minutes…
But then things soon went downhill as she discovered if she pulls hard enough, things can come off…
This provided a whole new level of entertainment for her…
…until I started taking the stray bits away from her.
She soon got bored, and found something far more interesting outside, leaving me with the pile of rubbish I started with…
Needless to say, the remnants are back in the recycling bin, and my attempt at being an ‘educational’*/ ‘crafty’*/ ‘resourceful’* (*delete as appropriate) mum failed. She would’ve been far more entertained (for much less effort) if I’d just given her back the remote control…!
